From the heart of Ohio to the shores of California, my life has been a journey that intertwined faith, family, and fraternity.
Growing up in Ohio, I had the honor of serving as an usher at Ohio State Football games as an Eagle Boy Scout. I attended Upper Arlington High School, where I not only excelled academically but also wore the badge of co-captain of the wrestling team, winning regional and sectional competitions.
My journey continued at Ohio State University, where I joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity, forming lifelong friendships and learning values that shaped me into the person I am today. It was during my senior year that I attended a Campus Crusade for Christ meeting, an event that sparked a spiritual awakening within me and transformed my life forever.
Upon graduation, my commitment to faith led me to join the staff of Campus Crusade. This divine path introduced me to my soulmate, Roberta (Berti), a cheerleader from Worthington High, our rival school. Our love story has flourished for over 54 years, blessed with three wonderful children: Seth, a talented musician; Shawni, a USC graduate and a proud parent of a grandchild; and Shane, a Pepperdine University graduate who collaborates with me at Doug Hartman Inc. and is a loving father to two grandchildren.

Finding Purpose: Empowering Lives through Financial Freedom
In this vast world, I've come to believe that the most valuable treasure is people. The greatest way I can enhance my own life's value is by positively impacting someone else's - and that's the purpose that drives me.
My wife Berti and I yearned for our lives to be filled with meaning, value, and purpose. We found our calling in guiding middle-income individuals towards financial stability. The need is immense. Consider this: by age 65,
- 54% of people are financially dependent.
- 30% are still working.
- 5% have passed away.
- Only 4% are reasonably well-off (with $1 Million).
- A mere 1% are wealthy
With an average credit card debt of about $15,000, many live paycheck to paycheck, and they're at a loss for what to do. Money, or the lack thereof, influences every facet of their lives.
That's where I step in. Drawing on my education, experience, and resources, I'm committed to nurturing savvy money managers. My mission? To assist middle Americans in navigating their financial challenges and help them discover the path to financial freedom.

Why do I believe I have the education to develop Common Sense Money Managers?
My financial knowledge journey began with earning my CFP (Certified Financial Planner) from the esteemed CFP school in Denver. This two-year study, which I completed in April 1986, equipped me with a robust understanding of financial planning. The CFP Certification is often hailed as the gold standard in the field - a testament to its rigorous curriculum and high standards.
My thirst for knowledge led me to another enlightening two-year program in financial planning at University of Southern California (USC). These comprehensive courses have shaped my financial acumen and honed my skills.
But my education goes beyond conventional financial wisdom. Over ten summer-filled years, I graduated from the Institute of Biblical Studies (IBS), sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ. This decade-long study provided me with a unique perspective on what the scriptures say about money and money management.
So why do I firmly believe that I can develop Common Sense Money Managers?
It's one thing to possess personal knowledge, but it's another to teach and train individuals in that knowledge effectively. That's where my experience as the National Training Director of Campus Staff for Campus Crusade comes into play. I had the privilege of training approximately 10,000 full-time staff across sixty-five countries over three years.
My diverse educational background combined with my rich training experience positions me uniquely to help others navigate their financial path.

Firstly, I come armed with a robust portfolio of licenses that complement my education and enable me to provide a comprehensive range of financial services. Here's a snapshot of my credentials:
- Series 6 License, granting me the ability to sell Mutual Funds and Variable Annuities.
- Series 63 License, allowing me to train Securities Licensed individuals and receive compensation for the training.
- Series 26 License, which enables me to manage an office with securities-trained individuals and receive compensation.
- Series 65 License (Registered Investment Advisor) and
- Series 7 – Stockbroker License, both registered with the SEC.
- Mortgage License and Insurance License (Life & Health), along with various contractual agreements to market other financial products.
But it's not just about licenses. My facilities are equally crucial in empowering you with financial knowledge.
I own a three-story building strategically located on the Golden State Freeway in Anaheim CA, just a stone's throw away from Disneyland. This building, exclusively used by Doug Hartman Inc., is dedicated to education and training. It's here that we bring financial concepts to life, equipping you with practical skills to navigate your financial journey confidently.
In addition to the top-tier facility and licensing, I've authored a book published by Harvest House Publishers. Titled "Guidebook to Discipleship", this book outlines my unique training concepts and perspectives on developing leadership. With over 100,000 copies sold and translations into two foreign languages, it serves as a testament to the value of the insights I share.

For over forty years, I've been teaching and training individuals in financial money management. Today, I'm proud to oversee more than 1000 offices and over 25,000 agents within my organization, each one equipped with the knowledge and skills to make a real difference.
